Swarovski – Milan jewellery atelier

I’m just back from a flying visit to Milan a couple of days ago to film jewellery being made for Swarovski. It’s always a treat to watch the pieces taking shape in the hands of true craftsmen. I always marvel at how these often tiny, intricate pieces can be worked on using skills passed down over generations. It’s fascinating to be able to capture things like this. I love the detail that I am able to capture with the 100mm macro lens.

Bonhams – Fine Jewellery

Bonhams recently had a fine jewellery sale in London. I went along before the opening to film Sarah Harris, Deputy Editor of British Vogue, having a preview of some of the pieces and choosing her favourites. It was an interesting day with some stunning jewellery. Once again I was filming for my friends at VM Studio who put this edit together for the Bonhams Facebook page.

Swarovski – Lanvin Spring 2017

I’ve just seen that Swarovski have uploaded their Lanvin Spring 2017 video. I shot this along with another cameraman a while back. Swarovski wanted a watery feel which we achieved with some rather Heath Robinson methods. Once again I was working along with my friends at VM.Studio who did the pre and post production. I love the way it turned out.

Giorgio Armani pop up store with celebrity vlogger Nadine Baggott

Continuing the beauty themed filming that makes up a fair proportion of my work, I was in London’s Covent Garden a couple of weeks ago filming in Giorgio Armani’s new pop-up store ‘Armani Box’. Celebrity beauty vlogger, journalist and TV presenter Nadine Baggott from thebeautyknowitall was there to see what they offer. She has just edited and uploaded my footage which I shot towards the end of last month. We managed to pack a lot into the day!

Jewellery Filming in Paris

It’s always fascinating to see artisans at work. Jewellery makers are no exception. I spent three days in Paris at a specialist atelier to film the design and manufacture of rings, bracelets and earrings. We packed a lot into three days and I look forward to seeing the finished edit when it’s completed. I also spent a lot of time on the streets of paris filming timelapses and general views to put in the edit. Luckily the weather played along although it was very cold!

House of Garrard

Jewellery filming fascinates me as often I am required to shoot very close up macro content. This shoot for House of Garrard was no exception. Over several days, with one other cameraman, I filmed footage for a bridal collection as well content to be used in several other videos. You can watch the bridal video in the window above and the others can be found on the Garrard website or on their YouTube page.

Garrard is the longest serving jewellery house in the world having traded for 280 years. They have a royal warrant and famously made the sapphire engagement ring worn by the Duchess of Cambridge. I have never been surrounded by so much beautiful jewellery and it was fun to film pieces being created in Garrards workshop above their Albemarle store. As always Video Marcoms put together some beautiful edits.

Karlie Kloss – Swarovski Photoshoot

I’ve just returned home after spending the day with supermodel Karlie Kloss. I was filming behind the scenes footage during a Swarovski photoshoot. She was a true professional – a long day with lots of costume changes and lots of cameras pointed at her. Rather her than me!

Atelier Swarovski – Ron Arad and Tord Boontje

Atelier Swarovski have been busy recruiting yet more top level designers to collaborate with on their collection of home design objects. In March I went to film four designers, Ron Arad, Tord Boontje, RawEdges and Tomas Alonso talking about the pieces they designed and the inspiration behind them. I particularly enjoyed filming Ron Arad in his London studio. You can see the Tord Boontje video here. All direction, production and post production by Video Marcoms.

Geox – Dallas Clayton

Dallas Clayton is an American childrens author and illustrator. Geox make shoes that breathe. They came together and created a story about shoes coming to life and launched a campaign called “Let Your Imagination Breathe”. I went along to the Oxford Street branch of Geox to film a day to celebrate Dallas’ book “Gerald’s Missing Shoe” along with some young fans. We also got to interview him about what he does. Once again I was filming for Video Marcoms who produced, directed and edited this content.

Atelier Swarovski – Philippe Ferrandis
